Introduction

The rapid growth of mobile applications and the forthcoming emergence of Internet over Everything have placed stringent demands on cloud infrastructure, which has led to moving computing and networking resources towards the edge of the cloud, forming the Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) architecture. MEC provides a cloud computing platform at the edge of the access network. By executing task processing closer to the end user, MEC aims to provide real-time, high-bandwidth, low-latency access to latency-dependent applications, reduce network congestion, and improve application performance. However, as 5G is more readily available than ever, integrating MEC into 5G is brings new challenges. New enablers of MEC including virtualisation technologies such as containers, Software Defined Networking (SDN), Network Function Virtualisation (NFV) and network slicing create new opportunities of implementation and orchestration, but also bring new technical and business challenges.

MEC allows network operators to open their networks to a new ecosystem and value chain, and also gained momentum in the academic side. The primary goal of MECN-2019 workshop is to address a wide spectrum of research challenges and key issues in edge computing. MECN-2019 will provide an international forum for scientists, engineers and researchers to discuss and exchange novel views, results, experiences and work-in-process regarding all aspects of edge computing and networking technologies, as well as to identify the emerging research topics and open issues for further researches.

Submission Guidelines

The workshop seeks for novel, previously unpublished papers. All submissions should be written in English with a maximum paper length of six (6) printed pages including figures and references without incurring additional page charges (maximum 2 additional page with over-length page charge if accepted). Standard IEEE conference templates can be found at:
http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html

Once accepted, the paper will be included into the IEEE conference proceedings published by IEEE Computer Society Press (indexed by EI). At least one of the authors of any accepted paper is requested to register the paper for the workshop.
